Cheap Dinner

Looking for a cheap dinner?  Tonight I made Pork Chops and Cabbage.  The pork chops I bought were boneless and trimmed.  The were priced at $7.26.  The cabbage was .50 a head.  Everything else I had in my pantry/fridge.

Pork Chops and Cabbage

  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 8 boneless pork loin chops
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 small head cabbage, chopped
  • seasoned salt
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce

Directions

  1. Heat the oil in a skillet over medium heat. Season the pork chops with salt and pepper, and brown on both sides in the skillet. Place the cabbage on top of the chops, and sprinkle with seasoned salt and Worcestershire sauce. Cover skillet and cook 15 minutes.
  2. Uncover skillet, place chops on top of the cabbage, and continue cooking 15 minutes, or until pork chops are done.

So around $8.00 for my family of 4 to eat dinner tonight.  Now, I will add that the boys don't like cabbage, so I made them mashed potatoes to go with their chops.
